01/07/2004 - Sorry to y'all who visited, waiting for updates but now I've decided I'm not going to much update here anymore.  A new site is currently being designed and more info on that when available.  Meanwhile, asian pop star BoA recently renewed her contract with Japanese record label Avex for 150 million yen, which roughly translates to 1.3 million dollars US.  The new 3 year contract is comparable to contracts to Japan’s top stars such as Namie Amuro and Ayumi Hamasaki.  The 1.3 million does not include royalties from concerts and other gasoo activities. “We are happy that Avex is treating BoA the same way as its other top stars like Ayumi Hamasaki,” said one BoA representative.  The renewal represents a 30% increase in income for the 17 year old.  After debuting in Japan under Avex in 2001, the teen sensation has sold more than 6 million albums in the island country.  Music albums in Japan are sold for as much as $25 US, which means she has brought in more $100 million in revenues while in Japan.  BoA will be holding her 3rd offical “Jumping Boa” fan meeting on June 13 where she will be performing the title song of her upcoming 4th album, My Name, for the first time.  SM Entertainment has described the new song as being similar in style to “Valenti.”  Her 4th album will be released in the same day as her fan meeting.

28/12/2003 - On December 17, at the 'Government Participation Cultural Industry Political Vision Reporting Convention' held at the Government Mansion, the director of SM Entertainment, Lee Sae Min, stated that singer BoA's economical value is over 1000 uk won. What was once ridiculed as a 'corner store business', the entertainment business has become a stepping stone to the overseas market. BoA has become the symbol of that growth. The 17 years-old singer has been favourably active this year and for the 2nd year running has participated on the NHK Red and White Contest Concert which is believed to be a prestigious event in the Japanese music industry. She has also in the first half of the year, made 400 uk won (approx. US$ 350 million) in album market sales which records as the 3rd highest in Japan

23/10/2003 - Sorry to you all, I've been busy & couldn't update the site.  But now I'm back! ^_~

A major k-pop concert will take place on September 28 at New York City's Flushing Meadow Park.  The MBC and the New York Korean Organization managed concert will celebrate 100 years of Korean Immigration to America.  The event will be hosted by Cha Tae Hyun, Lee Hyori and Kim Jae Dong.  Besides Hyori, other artists expected to perform are Ock Ju Hyun, Seven, BoA, WAX, Jang Nara, Tae Jin Ah and Lee Sun Hee among others.

15/08/2003 - BoA will release her "History of BoA" DVD on August 18 in both Japan & Korea. The 2 DVD set was originally scheduled to be released on August 5. The DVD is currently #1 at pre-order DVD sales charts with 8,000 pre-orders in Japan. "History of Boa" has 3,000 pre-orders in Korea according to SM Entertainment. The multimedia packed DVD set will contain behind the set scenes, documentaries, interviews and photo galleries among other things.
Also, Sung Yuri will host a major concert for the first time when the "8.15 Peace Concert" opens on August 15 featuring gasoos as Yoon Do Hyun Band, BoA, Big Mama, Seven and FlytotheSky among others. The concert will promote reunification and peace in the Korean peninsula. Sung Yuri is currently appearing on TV as host of MBC's "Section TV."

11/08/2003 - BoA will not be performing at the Power Concert 2003 in L.A. Earlier reports had said that she would be performing but due to SM's recent problems, none of SM's artistist will be performing... Several Hong Kong newspapers reported that BoA dropped off the Silver Hawk movie. Because of SARS, shooting of BoA's part in the film was postponed. It is hard to re-arrange an 8 day shooting within her very busy schedule. But reportedly the main reason for BoA's withdrawal is the disagreement between SM Japan, BoA's representative in Japan, and the film company on the scale of a concert scene. BoA had been practicing Kung-Fu and learning acting techniques for the role in the film. Her former manager got killed in a traffic accident a little more than one week ago.

07/08/2003 - SM gasoos Moon Hee Jun, BoA, Kang Ta, Dana and Black Beat will perform on August 11 at Beijing for the Conquest of SARS Concert. They were invited to perform by China Tourism and Culture Department in order to celebrate the capital city's liberation from SARS. Beijing was the last city to be declared SARS-free by world health officials. BoA is currently in the middle of her 3rd album activities while Moon Hee Jun officially kicked off his album activities with his 3rd Album Comeback Special on August 3 at SBS Inky Gayo.

30/07/2003 - According to Japan's Planet Chart, BoA's 2nd full Japanese album was the 2nd best selling album in Japan for the 1st half of 2003. The album which recorded almost 1.2 million sales trailed only Chemistry's latest album which sold 1.9 million. The 1.2 million total is twice as much as what BoA's 2nd Korean Album sold in Korea last year. ***BoA, who was casted in April to act as a gasoo in the Hong Kong action film Silver Hawk, was dropped from the cast after conflict arose between her management company and the movie's production company. BoA was originally supposed to shoot her part of the movie over a period of 8 days back in June in Shanghai. However that was postponed due to the SARS crisis and the shooting location was eventually moved to Japan. As production costs rose due to the delay and move MF Production told SM that they could not keep their promise of having 2,000 extras for BoA's concert scene in the film and said that they could only pay for 250. SM Entertainment, tired of the delays and false promises which disrupted BoA's gasoo activities, announced on July 25 that BoA's acting debut would have to come later.

29/07/2003 - It's no secret that Korean record companies are frantically trying to find the next BoA. With album sales at an all time low & with no sight to the end of the slump, company executives are vying to follow up on SM Entertainment's formula of success. At the end of school each day hundreds of young girls, most of whom are middle school aged children with some as young as 10 or 11, go to foreign language academies and/or studios with hopes of becoming the next BoA. The kids who are lured by the dream of stardom spend most of their non-school hours practicing singing & dancing. Some are realistic & hope for just the chance to release an album which in itself is against heavy odds much less becoming the next BoA. The frenzy which began after the success of BoA's 2nd album activities last year has already produced 17 year old Seo Yeon, who even though was advertised by the media as the 2nd BoA, has failed to live up to the name. There are rumors that SM Entertainment itself is training another young girl the same age as BoA and Seo Yeon. Similarly named Bora is supposedly learning Japanese, dancing and singing & will debut at the end of this year or early next year. One of the reasons record executives are drooling over the thought of their own BoA is the success SM's Boa has enjoyed overseas so far. Success overseas is being looked as more critical by executives due to the dwindling sale numbers domestically which can be covered by extra revenues from outside the country. BoA, for example, has been a big hit in the world's 2nd largest music market in Japan. Having already reached #1 twice at the country's Oricon Chart, she so far has sold 2.6 million total albums in Japan and has brought in revenues totaling US million in just two short years. At the age of 16 she already will release a two DVD set accounting her history. Whether or not that run will continue as she gets older or if there ever will be another BoA remains to be seen.

18/07/2003 - Featuring a lineup that would rival that of the 2003 F* Concert, a news conference was held at Seoul's 63 Building protesting against illegal music sites on July 9. With the backing of more than 100 prominent gasoos including G.O.D., Shin Hwa, Seven, UN, Lim Chang Jung, Koyote, Ock Ju Hyun, BoA, Moon Hee Jun, Jadu, Park Jin Young, Lee Soo Young, Cool, Jang Nara, Click-B, Cherry Filter, Lee Ki Chan, Yurisangja, Jewelry, NRG, Eugene, Kim Hyun Sung, Chakra and FlytotheSky among others, the music industry made it's stance clear on Internet sites offering their music without their consent. Free digital music has been a hot topic of late not only in Korea but abroad as well with continuing questions and arguments about copyright and such. The motivating factor behind the gasoos angry stance this time is the continuing fall of record sales. According to early estimates 2003 will be the fifth straight year record sales will decline from the previous year. With the wake of record low sales record companies started an aggressive campaign that shut down most Korean mp3 sites beginning last year. However with sales still dwindling gasoos decided to target new sources at the July 9 press conference including streaming services. P2P and file exchange services were also sources of criticism. Fans especially were encouraged to avoid using illegal sites and even the Korean government was a target for not protecting their public interests. One particular site that has been getting a lot of heat lately is www.bugsmusic.co.kr which offers the largest database of Korean streaming music available on the Net.

24/06/2003 - BoA will be releasing a live concert DVD of her recent Japanese concert tour on July 2 entitled "BoA 1st LIVE TOUR 2003Ä€Ā­" Furthermore, she's also scheduled to release a remix album in Japan on August 27 called "Dance with B(Remix&Collaboration)." The album will contain remixes of songs such as "Shine We Are", "Valenti", "Moon&Sunrise", "Jewel Song" and "No.1" among others. Also Avex, her Japanese company, plans to include BoA in their upcoming Japanese tour which will feature all of Avex's top stars. The agressive summer tour which will take place from July 19 to August 31, which will run through 7 cities including Tokyo, Osaka and Hiroshima. The tour called "A-Nation 2003" will also showcase Ayumi Hamasaki, ELT, EXILE, among others. BoA is currently performing her 3rd Album's "Atlantis Princess" in her home country of Korea.

18/06/2003 - BoA a Japanese gasoo? A funny incident took place on the night of June 7 in Tokyo, where BoA was attending a conference dinner with the political head figures of both Korea and Japan when Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi was the one who introduced BoA to Korean President Roh Moo Hyun. BoA, who sang "Waiting" & "Every Heart" in front of a hundred other diplomats at the dinner said that she herself was quite surprised about how much the Prime Minister knew about her. After taking autograph requests at the formal dinner, she returned to Korea the following day (June 8).

4/06/2003 - BoA will attend a formal dinner in Tokyo with Korean President Roh Moo Hyun and Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on the night of June 7. She was one of two gasoos who received the exclusive invitation for the post Korea-Japan conference dinner. She was chosen due to her ties to both Korea and Japan. She will be singing two of her songs: "Waiting" (Korean Version)& "Every Heart" (Japanese Version) at the policital dinner which was one of the main reasons she skipped the SM Town trip to the Philippines. The Japanese gasoo representative at the event will be Kimura Yumi. "I'm honored to receive such an invitation and am nervous about the thought of meeting the President," said BoA. She'll be leaving for Tokyo on the morning of June 7 and return to Seoul the following day to perform "Atlantis Princess" on SBS Inky Gayo. Her 3rd album topped the weekly sales chart replacing Koyote's 5th album in its first week with about 90,000 sales.

1/06/2003 - The current list of performers for the Korean American Peace Concert at Washington DC's RFK Stadium on June 28 includes Shin Hwa, BoA*, Baby VOX, NRG, Bi, CAN, Eugene, FlytotheSky, Seven, Lee Sun Hee, Patti Kim, Jo Young Nam, Seol Woon Do, Kim Gun Mo, Jo Sung Mo and Kim Jong Hwan. Ticket prices still available are worth 25-100 dollars US. VIP tickets worth and are sold out. Festivities are scheduled to start at 1 PM (local time).

30/05/2003 - BoA came out to do an all-out interview on a talk show for the first time on television. The 16 year old singer who usuallly shies away from talk shows had an interview with Jo Young Nam for KBS Korea's "People Meeting Jo Young Nam" on May 16. In it, BoA told how she first became a gasoo including how she followed her older brother to an SM audition in 1997 as a 5th grader and the hard training she went through up to her debut in 2000. The interview, which aired in KBS Korea on May 21, was televisied on KBS on May 26. Meanwhile BoA*, who returned from Australia on May 23, is scheduled to release her 3rd album in Korea today. Her 3rd Album Comeback Special will be staged on SBS Inky Gayo on June 1.

15/05/2003 - Sorry to all you BoA fans!! I've been busy but I've got quite a few new pics up and some news!! BoA* is going to be in the upcoming Initial-D movie coming out in the next few months! Also, on May 17, 2003, BoA and other artists will be performing at the F* Concert (previously known as the Dream Concert) at Seoul's Olympic Stadium.
~~~The release of BoA's 3rd album has been postponed from late May to early June. BoA who has been working on her new album ever since returning to Korea in late April recently recorded 3 performances including her new Japanese single "Shine We Are" for 2 Japanese shows in Seoul. ("Shine We Are" is the title track of her 9th Japanese Single Album that was released on May 14.)
